Rated 5 out of 5 by from A+ Nike hit a homerun with this shoe! Adding the React foam to the midsole of this shoe with the added rock plate was pure genius! Absolutely love the 4mm offset! Please NEVER change the offset! Just ran/hiked a snowy trail while it was snowing and the toe cap (front of the upper with the rubberized coating) didn't allow any cold moisture to hit my cozy dry feet! I was super impressed! I was confident in climbing on the cold, wet rocks as the grip of the outsole is top notch. I would recomend this shoe to any trail runner! Not sure on durability as I just got them recently.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from These are so good. I absolutely love these shoes! After wearing my Terra Kiger 3's into the ground, I jumped at the chance to scoop these up and am I glad I did. It's all there, stability, comfort, style. I've used them both in dry and wet conditions, as well as smooth and rocky terrain and they, stand up to all of it. The heel is taller in the back than my other shoes, and I was concerned that it was going to be a real issue while running, but not a problem what so ever, not even the slightest hint of a blister. Not only do they perform well, but they are visually designed well too. The bright colors get lots of compliments on the trail, and the small design details are like little easter eggs. Also, that padded tongue where the laces cross over really saves the arch of my foot.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not the same Kiger I've been running in the Kigers since it's beginning, I have owned 1-5 (Kiger 2 was my favorite). I was aware that this is a total remodel, and I should of returned these when I could. As someone who strikes more on my forefoot I miss the zoom unit in the front of the shoe, and the toe box is quite a bit more narrow. These are a great looking shoe, look super mean, but I can't run in them- and I have plenty of Nike's that I wear that I don't actually run in (unless being chased by the cops.) Not knocking Nike, the Kiger's helped me lose over 50lb, run the Catalina Marathon, and spend countless mornings in the hills. I guess I'm just sad, I miss the old shoe, lucky my 4's aren't dead yet, but I'm going to have to hunt down another brand of shoe for trail running. Cheers's thanks Nike.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy so far Tested the Kiger 5's for the first time on a hilly course that consisted of fire roads, pebbly dirt trials, and uneven terrain and they held up nicely. Solid grip on the varied surfaces. The tongue seems thin, the toe box a bit wide, and the overall feel of the shoes was a little loose initially, but if you tie them on tight enough and just right, the fit is snug and they felt fine during the run. I'm transitioning from the Wildhorse to the Kiger and am very pleased so far.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pricey & dependable I've gone through 2 pairs of Terra Kiger 4s as my XC trainers the past 2 years and really liked them. The wide toe box was a big plus for the longer runs and general stability. The old ones had regular Cushlon cushioning and an Air Zoom unit in the forefoot and a pretty general tread pattern. The price for these made me a little sick, but I liked my past pairs so much and I was interested in the new developments that I decided to give them a try. The new sole shape is fine, and I do like the addition of a rock plate. The new tongue is good, and believe or not, the heel tab is a lifesaver that the 4s desperately needed. I can't really tell much of a difference with the added React foam or the more agressive tread. Finally, the new lace pattern is also a big improvement. Overall, every update is definitely a positive or neutral change, and although I think they're overpriced, the Terra Kiger 5s are the latest version of a shoe I've come to trust as my go-to for trail training.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from An improvement, but needs more refinement in heel I really like the updates to the midsole and outsole. I haven't run in the Kiger since v3 (just wasn't in love with the previous midsole construction, which carried over to v4), but v5 feels much more cushioned underfoot and with better grip. I also like the rockplate addition up front, which still allows for plenty of forefoot flexibility on the uphills. The main issue I have with these is with the heel collar/counter - which is extremely stiff, inflexible, and rides higher around the ankle than v3 (and even other current Nike shoes like the Pegasus 35). The heel collar digs into the lateral/outside "ball" of my ankles consistently - especially on more technical trail sections. I also experienced some rubbing irritation on my achilles. Sometimes I don't have any issues with some contact around the ankles if the material is relatively pliable or flexible enough, but unfortunately that's not the case with these. I love the updates in general (the rest of the upper is great), but hope the ankle/heel area gets another look in the next iteration.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Awesome. But hitting my outside ankle bone. Love these shoes, and once they're broken in it'll probably improve, but right now the outside edge of the collar hits my ankle bone - especially on uneven terrain (hiking and train running). Would be 5 stars otherwise.
